The Adriatic sailing season generally runs from May to October. May and June greet crews with pleasant temperatures and calmer harbours. July and August are the most popular time for a Croatian sailing holiday — the sea is warm, the weather settled and every island full of life. Each month has its own character, and there's no objectively "best" time — only the one that suits your own ideas the most.
Let's go through it month by month. May–June: fresh, green islands, water warming up nicely (20–23 °C), open berths and more favourable prices — ideal for those who are after peace and quiet. July–August: a sea of 25–27 °C, guaranteed sunshine, a buzzing nightlife, but fuller marinas and berths that need booking ahead. September: still warm water, thinning crowds, lovely long evenings. Many an experienced sailor reckons September is one of the best months on the Adriatic. There are fewer tourists by then, yet the water is still pleasantly warm.
